FUEL QUALITY TEST CONTINUED
00026
1. Determine if water and/or contaminants are present in fuel.
2. Inspect water separator for water (TM 5-2410-240-10). Drain water separator if condition found.
N OT E
Allow vehicle to remain undisturbed for 30 minutes before obtaining fuel sample.
a. Obtain sample of fuel from low point on fuel tank. Allow sample to sit for 10 minutes before inspecting fuel.
b. Visually inspect fuel sample for contaminants. If fuel is black, brown, and/or similar to sludge, this can be
an indication of bacteria growth or oil contamination. In cold temperatures, cloudy fuel indicates fuel may
not be suitable for operating conditions.
3. If fuel quality is still suspected as a possible cause of problems regarding engine performance, disconnect fuel
inlet line, and temporarily operate engine from a separate source of fuel known to be good. This will determine
if problem is caused by fuel quality. If fuel is contaminated, drain and clean fuel tank (WP 0175), and install
new fuel filters (WP 0074, WP 0063, and WP 0066).
