DRAIN AND FLUSHING PROCEDURE
WARN I N G
DO NOT service cooling system unless engine ha been allowed to cool down. This is a
pressurized cooling system and escaping steam or hot coolant will cause serious burns.
DO NOT remove cooling system radiator c p when engine is hot. Allow engine to cool
down. Loosen cap to first stop and let any pressure out of cooling system, then remove
cap. Failure to follow this warning may cause serious burns.
Wear effective eye, hand, and skin protecton when handling coolants. Failure to do so
may cause injury to personnel.
1. Drain coolant at required interval. Refer to PMCS (WP 0039). Drain coolant whenever it is dirty or when
foaming is observed. The radiator filler (Figure 1, Item 1) cap is beneath the access door (Figure 1, Item 2) on
the top left side of radiator guard (Figure 1, Item 3).
2. Inspect radiator core for debris, if necessary clean radiator core. Use compressed air or high pressure water to
remove dirt and debris from radiator core. Refer to PMCS (WP 0039 Item #1 Radiator Core - Clean).
3. Open access door (Figure 1, Item 2) and slowly loosen radiator filler cap (Figure 1, Item 1) to relieve system
pressure. Remove radiator filler cap.
