Implement System Components

Machine Electronic Control Module (ECM). The machine ECM (Figure 1, Item 7) controls the implement
system.
Bulldozer. The implement hydraulic system controls operation of the bulldozer (Figure 1, Item 2).
Fan Pump. The fan pump (Figure 1, Item 12) is the last pump in the series of pumps connected to the engine
flywheel housing. The fan pump connects to the implement pump (Figure 1, Item 6). The fan pump provides oil
flow for the on demand fan (Figure 1, Item 15). The fan pump also provides charge pressure to the left side
hydrostatic pump (Figure 1, Item 14) and additional pressure to the load sensing boost for the implement pump
(Figure 1, Item 6). The load sensing boost improves cycle time of the implements.
Implement Pump. The implement pump (Figure 1, Item 6) connects either to the winch pump (Figure 1,
Item 13) (D6K with Winch) or to the right side hydrostatic pump (Figure 1, Item 5). The implement pump
supplies oil to the hydraulic tilt cylinder (Figure 1, Item 1), the angle cylinders (Figure 1, Item 3), and the lift
cylinders (Figure 1, Item 4) for bulldozer (Figure 1, Item 2) operation. For D6K with Ripper, the implement
hydraulic system controls operation of the ripper. The implement pump supplies oil to the ripper cylinder.
Valve Bank. The valve bank (Figure 1, Item 8) is located in the manhole underneath the accumulator. The
valve bank consists of either three or four control valves. Three of the control valves are for the bulldozer
blade. The fourth control valve is for the ripper (D6K with Ripper).
Common Tank for Implement and Hydrostatic System. The hydraulic oil tank (Figure 1, Item 11) is located
inside the frame on the left rear of the machine. It is also accessible through the rear or underside of the
machine. The hydraulic oil tank is a reservoir that contains the hydraulic oil that supplies the implements and
the hystat systems.
Implement Manifold Group. The implement manifold (Figure 1, Item 8) contains the implement solenoids,
which include the blade angle left, the blade angle right, the blade raise, the blade lower, the blade tilt left, the
blade tilt right, the pilot supply shutoff, and the ripper raise and the ripper lower (D6K with Ripper). The
implement manifold is accessible through the rear or underside of the machine.
Equipment ECM. The equipment ECM (Figure 1, Item 9) controls the blade angle left solenoid and the blade
angle right solenoid outputs based on requests from the machine ECM (Figure 1, Item 7). For D6K with Ripper,
the equipment ECM (Figure 1, Item 9) controls the ripper raise solenoid and the ripper lower solenoid outputs
based on requests from the machine ECM (Figure 1, Item 7).
Remote Pressure Taps. Remote pressure taps (Figure 1, Item 10) for diagnosing and testing the powertrain
and implement systems are located behind the left rear access door.
