HOW ADAPTERS AFFECT TORQUE LIMITS

When adapters or extensions that increase the length of the torque wrench are used, the applied torque will be
greater than the torque wrench setting. Use the following steps to calculate the correct torque setting when using
adapters or extensions.
N OT E
Adapters that add 1 in. (2.5 cm) or less to the torque wrench length do not require
recalculation of torque. Only if the required torque has an exceedingly tight tolerance
should the new torque be recalculated.
1. Measure extension length from center of torque wrench connecting point with center point of socket.

2. Measure torque wrench from connecting point center to handle center.
