DO NOT perform fuel system checks, inspecions, or maintenance while smoking or near

fire, flames, or sparks. Fuel may ignite, causing damage to equipment and injury or death
to personnel.
Allow engine to cool off before performing maintenance on fuel filter. Hot metal parts can
cause severe burns. Wear eye, hand, and skin protection when working with heated parts.
Wear fuel resistant gloves and eye protecton when handling fuels. If exposed to fuel,

promptly wash exposed skin and change fuel-soaked clothing.
Failure to follow these warningsmay result in injury or death to personnel, or damage to
equipment.
FILTER BASE AND MOUNTING PLATE INSTALLATION

C AU T I O N
Wipe area clean around fuel filter. Contamination of fuel system could result in premature
failure.
1. Install four new O-rings (Figure 9, Item 5) and plugs (Figure 9, Item 6) on filter base (Figure 9, Item 7).
N OT E
Install bolts in positions as noted during removal.
2. Install new gasket (Figure 9, Item 4), prime pump (Figure 9, Item 3), two washers (Figure 9, Item 2), and bolts
(Figure 9, Item 1) on filter base (Figure 9, Item 7).
3. Install new O-ring (Figure 9, Item 11) and water separator (Figure 9, Item 10) on filter (Figure 9, Item 9).
4. Install water separate (Figure 9, Item 10), new O-ring (Figure 9, Item 8) and filter (Figure 9, Item 9), on filter
base (Figure 9, Item 7).
