Turbine and Turbine Housing Inspection

1. Remove turbocharger from machine (WP 0079).
2. Inspect turbine housing (Figure 7, Item 2) for damage. Replace turbocharger (WP 0079) if damage affects
operation.
3. Inspect turbine (Figure 7, Item 1) for damage from a foreign object. If there is damage, determine source of
foreign object. Replace turbocharger (WP 0079).
4. Inspect turbine housing (Figure 7, Item 2) and turbine (Figure 7, Item 1) for carbon and other foreign material.
If carbon build-up is present, replace turbocharger (WP 0079).
5. Rotate turbine (Figure 7, Item 1) by hand. Push assembly sideways while rotating turbine (Figure 7, Item 1).
Assembly should turn freely. Turbine should not rub turbine housing (Figure 7, Item 2). Replace turbocharger
(WP 0079) if condition is found.
6. Inspect turbine (Figure 7, Item 1) and turbine housing (Figure 7, Item 2) for oil leakage or oil coking. Clean oil
coking from turbine housing. If housing has heavy oil coking, replace turbocharger (WP 0079). If oil is coming
from turbocharger center housing, inspect turbocharger oil drain lines as directed in this work package.
