If battery has a low charge, do not perform first step.
If required, jump start engine or charge battery before engine is started.
1. Turn battery disconnect switch and ignition switch to ON position; do not start the engine.

Turn on front and rear work lights, activate headlights using mode switch, activate cab fan,
and turn cab dome light ON (TM 5-2410-240-10) to provide a drain on the batteries.
2. Partially drain batteries for 10 minutes of running cab accessories and lights, with the ignition switch on and
engine shut off.
3. Set dial (Figure 1, Item 6) of ammeter on the 400 DC amp scale (Figure 1, Item 1). Press ZERO button
(Figure 1, Item 2) to zero meter. Make sure that HOLD (Figure 1, Item 3) is not displayed on ammeter screen
(Figure 1, Item 4). If HOLD is displayed, press the HOLD button (Figure 1, Item 5) once.
