Test Step 1 - Ground Cables
00030
1. Verify all battery cable connections are clean and tight.
2. Turn battery disconnect switch to ON position (TM 5-2410-240-10).
3. Using digital multimeter, measure voltage between positive post (Figure 4, Item 1) and negative post (Figure 4,
Item 2) of battery (Figure 4, Item 7). Monitor and record voltage.
4. Using digital multimeter, measure voltage between positive post (Figure 4, Item 1) and battery cable
(Figure 4, Item 3). Voltage should be less than 1-Volt from value recorded in step 3.
a. If voltage is more than 1-Volt from value recorded in step 3, replace battery cable (Figure 4, Item 3) from
battery (Figure 4, Item 7) to disconnect switch (Figure 4, Item 4) (WP 0142).
b. If voltage is less than 1-Volt from value recorded in step 3, machine negative battery cables are OK. Pro-
ceed to next step to check other ground cables.
5. Using digital multimeter, measure voltage between positive post (Figure 4, Item 1) and disconnect switch termi-
nal (Figure 4, Item 5). Voltage should be less than 1-Volt from value recorded in step 3.
a. If voltage is more than 1-Volt from value recorded in step 3, replace disconnect switch (Figure 4, Item 4)
(WP 0142).
b. If voltage is less than 1-Volt from value recorded in step 3, machine negative battery cables are OK. Pro-
ceed to next step to check other ground cables.
