CENTER RADIATOR CORE REMOVAL

Components with metal parts can cause severe burns at operating temperature. Allow
components to cool before performing maintenance on them. Wear insulated gloves, long
sleeves, and eye protection when working with heated parts.
N OT E
There are nine radiator cores in the radiator assembly. The seven center cores will all
remove the same way. The following procedure will remove the left side outer most
position center radiator core. Follow the same steps for each of six additional center
radiator cores. If removing radiator core in center most position, two radiator cores will
need to be removed.
1. Remove eight bolts (Figure 1, Item 2) and washers (Figure 1, Item 3) from door (Figure 1, Item 1).
2. Open door (Figure 1, Item 1) on hinge (Figure 1, Item 4).

Use extreme caution when handling heavy parts. Provide adequate support and use
assistance during procedure. Ensure any lifting device used is in good condition and of
suitable load capacity. Keep clear of heavy parts supported only by lifting device. Failure to
follow this warning may cause injury or death to personnel.
N OT E
Door weighs approximately 120 lb (54 kg).
3. Attach lifting strap, and lifting device on door (Figure 1, Item 1).
4. With assistance using lifting device, remove door (Figure 1, Item 1) from hinge (Figure 1, Item 4). Place door
on flat level surface.
5. Remove lifting device and strap from door (Figure 1, Item 1).
6. Open second door (Figure 1, Item 1) on hinge (Figure 1, Item 4).
7. Attach lifting strap and lifting device on door (Figure 1, Item 1).
8. With assistance using lifting device, remove door (Figure 1, Item 1) from hinge (Figure 1, Item 4). Place door
on flat level surface.
9. Remove lifting device and strap from door (Figure 1, Item 1).
