0168-02 Electrical System Voltage
Erratic, Intermittent, or Incorrect
Each module will have a battery in ut, ignition switch input, and
p
ground circuit.
The cause of a power supply interruption to an ECM may occur
on either positive side or negative side of battery circuits to the
affected module. Connections for the un-switched battery
positive (+) are routed through a dedicated protection device
(circuit breaker) on machine. Faults such as intermittent
shutdowns could be caused by machine wiring.
Test assumes batteries are fully charged and charging system is
functioning correctly. Ensure batteries are fully charged
(WP 0030) before continuing.
Test Step 1: Test ECM Battery
Voltage Supply Circuit.

Always inspect harness connectors that are involved in circuit.
Poor connections can often be the cause of an electrical circuit
problem. Verify connections in the circuit are clean and secure,
and connections are in good condition. If a problem with a
connection is found, correct the problem and verify diagnostic
code is active before performing this procedure.
Perform open or short circuit te t at each harness connection to
s
identify correct harness to replace.
Tag wiring harnesses to aid installation.
Perform this test only if condition is active.
1. Connect MSD (WP 0016).
Select engine ECM C6.6 D6K
and verify 0168-02 is active.
