1198-06 Blade Raise Sole-
noid Current Above Normal
Always inspect harness connectors thatare involved in the circuit. Poor
connections can often be the cause of an electrical circuit problem. Ver-
ify that all connections in circuit are clean and secure, and connections
are in good condition. If problem with connection is found, correct prob-
lem and verify diagnostic code is active before performing this proce-
dure.
Perform open or short circuit test ateach harness connection to identify
correct harness to replace.
Tag wiring harnesses to aid installation.
Perform this test only if condition is active.
Test Step 1. Test for Shorted Blade
Raise Solenoid.
1. Connect MSD (WP 0016). Select
machine control D6K ECM and
verify 1198-06 is active.
2. Turn ignition switch and battery
disconnect switch to OFF position
(TM 5-2410-240-10).
3. For D6K Dozer with Ripper,
remove rear plates from machine
to access valve bank (WP 0196).
For D6K Dozer with Winch,
remove rear bottom guards (WP
0156) from machine to access
valve bank (WP 0197).
4. Disconnect chassis wiring har-
ness connector CH-C18 from
blade raise solenoid: with Ripper
(WP 0018, Figure 91); with Winch
(WP 0018, Figure 262).
5. Turn battery disconnect switch
and ignition switch to ON position
(TM 5-2410-240-10).
6. Check for active code 1198-05 or
Code 1198-06 Remains Active - Pro-
1198-06 in machine control D6K
ceed to Test Step 2.
ECM (WP 0016).
Code 1198-06 Becomes Inactive
and 1198-05 Becomes Active -
Replace blade raise solenoid: with
Ripper (WP 0196); with Winch (WP
0197).
Proceed to step 7.
