CLEANING AND INSPECTION

1. Clean and inspect all components IAW Mechanical General Maintenance Instructions (WP 0282).

Use caution when using adhesives and seaants. Prolonged inhalation of vapors can
l
cause lung irritation. Contact with skin can cause dermatitis. Wear gloves and safety
goggles and use product in a well-ventilated area away from open flame. If ingested, keep
individual calm and seek medical attention. DO NOT induce vomiting. If contact with skin
or eyes is made, flush thoroughly with water. Dispose of clean up rags IAW local policy
and ordinances.
Solvent cleaning compound MIL-PRF-680 Ty e III is an environmentally compliant and
p
low-toxicity material. However, it may be irritating to the eyes and skin. Use protective
gloves and goggles. Use in well-ventilated areas. Keep away from open flames and other
sources of ignition. When not using MIL-PRF-680 solvents, ensure MIL-PRF-680 solvent
container is sealed. Store, handle and dispose of unused and spent solvents in
accordance with local procedures and plans.
Improper cleaning methods and use of unauthorized cleaning solvents may cause injury
to personnel and damage equipment.
Fire extinguishers should be placed n arby when using solvent cleaning compound.

Cloths or rags saturated with solvent cleaning compound must be disposed of IAW
authorized facilities' procedures.
Eye protection must be worn when cleaning with a wire brush.
Failure to follow these warnings ma result in injury to personnel.

2. Clean excess insulation and residue from surface using solvent.

1. Wipe surface with isopropyl alcohol.
2. Allow alcohol residue to evaporate before applying insulation.

FIT CHECK

1. Check insulation pieces for proper fit.
2. Check surface area that would prevent insulation from laying flat with surface.
3. Trim insulation as necessary to fit.
