BATTERY TEST

1. Turn ignition switch and battery disconnect switch to OFF position (TM 5-2410-240-10).
2. Disconnect battery cables from each battery (WP 0143).
3. If equipped with arctic heater, disconnect battery cables from each arctic heater battery (WP 0282).
4. Clean battery post.
5. Using battery analyzer, test each battery.
a. Battery analyzer displays GOOD BATTERY - Battery is OK.
b. Battery analyzer displays GOOD RECHARGE - Charge battery; refer to Battery Charging in this work
package. Test battery using battery analyzer. If battery analyzer displays GOOD RECHARGE again,
replace battery (WP 0143).
c.
Battery analyzer displays CHARGE & RETEST - Charge battery; refer to Battery Charging in this work
package. Test battery using battery analyzer. If battery analyzer displays CHARGE & RETEST again,
replace battery (WP 0143).
d. Battery analyzer displays REPLACE BATTERY - Battery failed test; replace battery (WP 0143).

1. Check polarity of battery posts. Positive (+) battery post has a larger diameter than negative (-) post.
2. Connect positive (red) clamp of battery charger to positive (+) post of battery.
N OT E
If positive (red) and negative (black) leads are connected in reverse, an audible alarm will
sound and the charger will produce no output current.
3. Connect negative (black) clamp of battery charger to negative (-) post of battery.
4. Connect red and black charger cables to battery charger.
N OT E
Ensure battery charger switch is OFF before connecting battery charger power cord.
5. Connect battery charger power cord to battery charger.
6. Turn battery charger switch ON.
7. Charge battery until the green Charge Complete LED is illuminated.
8. Battery charger will terminate when charge current drops below one ampere or less.
9. When charge is complete, turn battery charger switch OFF.
10. Wait approximately 10 minutes, then disconnect negative (black) clamp of battery charger from negative post
of battery.
11. Remove positive (red) clamp of battery charger from positive post of battery.
