WARN I N G
Lubricating/hydraulic oils used in performance of maintenance can be very slippery.
Immediately wipe up any spills. Failure to follow this warning may result in injury to
personnel.
N OT E
Install piston, seals, and rings as noted during removal.
1. Install new bearing (Figure 6, Item 12) and retaining ring (Figure 6, Item 13) on rod (Figure 6, Item 11).
2. Install new ring (Figure 6, Item 1) and seal (Figure 6, Item 2) on piston (Figure 6, Item 17).
3. Apply lubricating oil on lips of seal (Figure 6, Item 2).
4. Install new backup ring (Figure 6, Item 15), two new O-ring seals (Figure 6, Items 16 and 14), new wear ring
(Figure 6, Item 4), new buffer seal (Figure 6, Item 5), and new U-cup seal (Figure 6, Item 6) on head (Figure 6,
Item 10).

Use caution when using adhesives and sealants. Prolonged inhalation of vapors can
cause lung irritation. Contact with skin can cause dermatitis. Wear gloves and safety
goggles and use product in a well-ventilated area away from open flame. If ingested, keep
individual calm and seek medical attention. DO NOT induce vomiting. If contact with skin
or eyes is made, flush thoroughly with water. Dispose of cleanup rags IAW local policy and
ordinances. Failure to follow this warning may cause injury to personnel.
C AU T I O N
Do not let sealing compound contact seal. Failure to follow this caution may result in
equipment damage.
5. Apply sealing compound on outer metal ring groove of new wiper seal (Figure 6, Item 7).
6. Install new wiper seal (Figure 6, Item 7) on head (Figure 6, Item 10).
7. Apply lubricating oil on two O-ring seals (Figure 6, Items 16 and 14), and on lips of buffer seal (Figure 6,
Item 5), U-cup seal (Figure 6, Item 6), and wiper seal (Figure 6, Item 7).
8. Install head (Figure 6, Item 10), washer (Figure 6, Item 3), and piston (Figure 6, Item 17) on rod (Figure 6,
Item 12).
9. Apply lubricating oil on threads of new locknut (Figure 6, Item 9) and install locknut on rod (Figure 6, Item 11).
10. Tighten locknut (Figure 6, Item 9) to 250 25 lb-ft (339 34 Nm).
11. Apply lubricating oil on threads of head (Figure 6, Item 10).
12. Install rod (Figure 6, Item 11) and head (Figure 6, Item 10) on cylinder housing (Figure 6, Item 8).
13. Tighten head (Figure 6, Item 10) to 445 95 lb-ft (600 130 Nm).
