Replacement front oil seal is provided with plastic seal protector during shipping. Seal
protector is removed and discarded before seal is installed.
1. Position new front oil seal (Figure 2, Item 1) on crankshaft (Figure 2, Item 3) and remove seal protector
(Figure 2, Item 2) from front oil seal (Figure 2, Item 1). Discard seal protector.

2. Attach tooling (Figure 3, Item 4) to crankshaft (Figure 3, Item 5).
N OT E
Install front oil seal as noted during removal.
Install front oil seal to a depth of 0.256 0.008 in. (6.5 0.2 mm) into engine front housing.
3. Use tooling (Figure 3, Items 1 and 2) to install front oil seal (Figure 3, Item 3) in engine front housing
(Figure 3, Items 6).
